/Last Thursday the subject at our Yakuin school was how to give directions. My students did excellent in class and I had a lot of fun teaching it. There are recently so many foreign people in Fukuoka so the chance of somebody asking you for directions in English is pretty high!
Here are some useful expressions to remember.
Where’s the aquarium? 水族館はどこですか？
- Could you tell me where the aquarium is? 水族館はどこか教えていただけませんか？
- Where’s Starbucks? スターバックスはどこですか？
- It’s on Cedar Street. シーダー通りにあります。
- It’s on the corner of Cedar Street and 1st Avenue. シーダー通りと1番街の角にあります。
- It’s between the library and the Windsor Café. 図書館とウィンザーカフェの間にあります。
- It’s across from the school. 学校の向かいにあります。
- It’s next to the Kensington English School. ケンジントン英会話の隣にあります。
- It’s in front of the library. 図書館の前にあります。
- It’s behind the hospital. 病院の後ろにあります。
- It’s on Cedar Street next to the Windsor Café. シーダー通り、ウィンザーカフェの隣にあります。

先週木曜日の薬院校のレッスンテーマは’how to give directions’でした。生徒さんは素晴らしく、教えるのがとても楽しかったです。最近福岡にはたくさんの外国人がいるので、英語で道を聞かれる機会はとても多いですよね！いくつか思い出して欲しい表現を紹介します。
