実はイギリス女王には誕生日が2回ある事をご存知でしたか？彼女の実際の誕生日は4月、そしてもう1回は6月に公式に、お祝いされるのです。

/Hello there everyone,
I know you will probably find this difficult to believe due to the hyper professional vibe I have, but it has taken me a long time to become any good at my job.
Tim and I have been running the school for 7 years now and he has always been very organised and paid attention to the smallest of details, but when we started I was the exact opposite, I’d forget to reply to line messages, forget about my private lessons in Nishijin, lose the keys to the school and more! Organisation has never been my strong point!
Nowadays though I make a very conscious effort to be as organised as possible, I set reminders for myself on every device I have, make a habit of checking everything I did the day before every morning, and double check my day’s work every night.
I also had no idea of customer service in the beginning either and at our first school party some of the girls told me they thought I hated them because my line messages were really unfriendly! This was a real eye opener for me because I’ve always considered myself a pretty friendly person and I’ve realised that just joking around a bit in class just isn’t enough so nowadays my motto is “We aim to please!”
Basically to cut a long story short, working here has been a bit humbling. We have so many talented people on our team and in order to live up to their expectations I’ve really had to up my game in so many ways. I hope it’s working and I’m going to keep at it from here on in.

やぁ皆さん、こんにちは。
私のプロフェッショナルな雰囲気からは信じられないと思いますが(！)、うまく仕事ができるようになるまでには、長い時間がかかりました。
ティムと私はこのスクールを運営して7年になります。
ティムはいつも細部まで気を配り計画や実行をしています。
実はスクールを始めた時には、私はそんな彼とは真逆でした。LINEメッセージの返信を忘れたり、西新校でのプライベートレッスンを飛ばしてしまったり、学校の鍵を失くしたり、、、他にも色々！
計画、実行が私の「強み」になる事は決してないでしょう！
でも今では、できる限り計画的な人間になるように強く意識を持って努力しています。
持っているすべてのデバイスにリマインダーをセットして、毎朝前日に行った事をすべて確認する事と毎晩1日の仕事を確認することを習慣にしています。
それに最初の頃は、サービスについてもまったくわかっていませんでした。
初めてのスクールパーティーの時、数人の女の子達からすごく無愛想な私のLINEメッセージのせいで、私に嫌われていると思っていたと言われました!!
これには本当にハッとさせられました。
私は、常にとてもフレンドリーであろうと考えていましたが、レッスンの中に面白い事を言うだけではダメなんだと気づいたのです。
現在の私のモットーは、「 We aim to please! - 喜んで頂けるように努めます 」。
話せば長くなりますが、手短に言うと、ここで働くことで少し謙虚な気持ちになりました。
私達のチームには沢山の才能ある人々がいます。彼らの期待に応えるためにも、私は本当に色々な方法で腕を上げないといけません。
うまく行くこと、これから先もずっと続くことを願っています。

/Hi there everyone,
As you saw in my last post, the topic for this weekend at our schools around Fukuoka is about British pubs and this is an essential phrase you must learn if you are to survive British pub culture.
a round ( short for a round of drinks)
We use this to talk about an order of drinks for more than one person and when we drink in the UK we usually order our drinks this way. A typical conversation would go like this...
Jaimie “Whose round is it? “
Tim “Mine, I think. What does everyone want?
Jaimie. “A pint of IPA please mate. “
Yuki “A glass of white wine for me please.”
Ross: “And a half of shandy please.”
Tim “Okay, back in a sec.”

前回の私のブログでご覧になられた通り、福岡にある私達のスクールの今週末のトピックはイギリスのパブについて、です。
もしあなたがイギリスのパブ文化の中で何とかやって行きたいなら、これは絶対に学ばないといけない必須フレーズです。
a round ( a round of drinksの略 - 順番に、人数分の飲み物をまとめて買いに行くこと)
UKのパブでドリンクを頼む時、二人以上なら通常はこのフレーズを使ってオーダーをします。典型的な会話はこんな感じです...
Jaimie : “Whose round is it? “
（誰が買いに行く番？）
Tim : “Mine, I think. What does everyone want?
（私の番だと思う、みんな何が欲しい？）
Jaimie. : “A pint of IPA please mate. “
（ IPAをパイントでお願いするよ）
Yuki : “A glass of white wine for me please.”
（白ワインをグラスでお願いします）

/Hello there,
Today’s business English is more of an example of casual vs formal. When it comes to parties or events we have a number of different verbs we can use but quite often we use the verbs have and hold.
There isn’t much difference between the two to be honest but we tend to use the verb hold for more formal occasions such as work events like conferences, and use have for smaller private events.
Examples
I’m having a party this Friday. Can you come?
My company’s annual sales awards ceremony is being held in Hokkaido this year.

今日のビジネス英語では、カジュアルな表現 VS フォーマルな表現、について例文を挙げて行きます。
パーティーやイベントを行う時に使我る動詞はいくつかありますが、中でも
「 hold と have 」は特に良く使います。
正直に言うと、これら2つにはそこまで大きな違いはありません。
でも、「 hold 」はよりフォーマルな場面、例えば仕事の会議などのイベントで使用され、「 have 」はもう少し小さなプライベートのイベントで使われる傾向があります。
例
I’m having a party this Friday. Can you come?
( 今週の金曜にパーティーをするんだけど、来れる？)
My company’s annual sales awards ceremony is being held in Hokkaido this year.
( 私の会社の年間販売表彰式典は、今年は北海道で開催されます。)

私の出身地、私自身～講師の自己紹介 - 田舎で暮らす人々
/It will probably come as a bit of a surprise to you because of my sophisticated urbane charm but I am actually from a very rural area and grew up in a village of only 300 people.
It has one shop, a petrol station, and two streets so you can imagine there isn’t much happening there.I know everyone there by their first names. It is a little inconvenient living there, the nearest supermarket is 16 kilometres away and so was my high school, the nearest pub is a 5k walk, and there isn’t a McDonald’s, Starbucks or clothes store in sight until you go to the nearest city Glasgow, which is about a 90 minute drive from my house or 3 hours on the train.
What it lacks in convenience though it makes up for in scenery, I had a view of the ocean from my back garden and a view of the hills from the front. It is super safe and was a great place to grow up. You can go to the beach, go camping, go fishing, go cycling, and do endless outdoor activities there in the summer and in the winter there is a ski slope just 30 mins away so it is great for that too.
I’m pretty used to life in the city nowadays and probably couldn’t go back to country life now but I think I’m pretty lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful, if slightly boring, place.

私の洗練された都会的な魅力 (!) を知っている皆さんにはきっと驚きの事実かと思いますが、私は実はとても田舎の出身で、人口が300人しかいない村で育ちました。
その村には、1軒のお店とガソリンスタンド、2つの通りしかなく、ご想像の通り退屈な村です。
私は村の全ての住人の名字まで知っています。
そこで暮らすのは少し不便で、一番近くのスパーマーケットや私の学校までは16キロ、一番近くのパブまでは徒歩で5キロの距離があります。
マクドナルドやスターバックス、また、洋服店は一番近くの町であるグラスゴーまで行かないとありませんが、そこへは私の家から車で90分または電車で3時間の道のりです。
不便ではありますが、その代わり美しい風景の中にあります。
家の裏庭からは海、正面からは丘を眺められます。
とても安全で、子供が育つのに素晴らしい場所です。
夏には、ビーチ、キャンプ、釣り、サイクリング、など、いくらでもアウトドアが楽しめ、冬になれば30分ほどの場所にスキー場があります。夏も冬も素晴らしいのです。
最近では私はすっかり街での暮らしに慣れてしまったので、田舎暮らしに戻れないかもしれません。でもあんなに美しく、ちょっと退屈な場所で育ったことはとてもラッキーだっと思います。
